When to use them: Snail boom after overfeeding, introduction of new plants, or a substrate rich in residues. Ideal for tanks with shrimps or delicate fish where molluscicides are not desired.
How they work: Baited traps attract snails and trap them using one-way flaps/entries or micro-holes; in the morning, they are emptied without releasing substances into the water.
Correct use: Place the trap in the evening in high-traffic areas (glass/front or on the bottom), use vegetable bait (blanched lettuce leaf/zucchini) or specific tabs, repeat for 2–3 nights, and rinse between cycles.
Prevention: Reduce food, siphon residues, inspect/remove egg clutches from glass and decorations, rinse or quarantine new plants. Avoid copper and molluscicides in tanks with invertebrates or useful snails (e.g., Neritina).
Tip: Alternate bait (vegetable / protein tab) and move the trap between the front and shaded areas; after each capture cycle, perform a light siphoning of the substrate to limit recurrence.
