What is a sump: an external technical tank, located under the cabinet, where mechanical/biological filtration and equipment management take place.
Main advantages: extra water volume, better oxygenation, thermal/chemical stability, simplified maintenance, and a aesthetically clean setup.
Available accessories: pre-assembled and custom sumps, baffles and dividers, filter socks and holders, filter rollers, overflow weirs and overflow boxes, PVC pipes and fittings, taps/valves, top-off tanks and ATO components, silencers and sound-absorbing materials, anti-vibration mats, and splash covers.
Correct choice: evaluate usable dimensions within the cabinet, number of chambers, operating level, drain/return diameters, and compatibility with pumps, skimmers, and sensors.
Tip: accurately measure the internal space of the cabinet and plan for tube and tap passages. Generally, a return pump equal to 5–7 times the tank volume per hour ensures efficient and quiet recirculation.
