Calcium and Carbonates are used by all aquarium animals for the formation of Aragonite, the material component of coral skeletons, bivalve shells such as tridacnas, crustacean carapaces, etc. In addition to the intrinsic importance of these elements, it is important that they are present in water in defined proportions. Commercial salts are balanced mixtures of a multitude of salts, present in a balanced way, but unbalanced consumption of Calcium or Carbonates can occur due to micro-precipitations or other factors. In the presence of such an imbalance, the fastest and safest method to restore values to normal is the use of Liquid Calcium Plus and Liquid KH Plus products. Their concentrated form and simple instructions make them perfect for both experienced users and beginners, with no room for error in dosing.
Liquid Calcium Plus adds Calcium in its simplest form, as Ca++ ions, and Liquid KH Plus adds Carbonates and Bicarbonates as CO3-- and HCO3- ions.
These products do not alter phosphate, nitrate, or silicate levels and are free of chelants, preservatives, and gluconates. It is not possible to mix the two reagents in the same container before adding them to the tank. If the two supplements come into direct contact, they neutralize each other and become ineffective, causing a precipitation of 100% pure Calcium Carbonate.
Liquid Calcium Plus and Liquid KH Plus are products for instant value modification. For maintenance, we recommend using the balanced supplements Ca+KH part A and B or an Oceanlife Life Builder Calcium Reactor.
Dosage:
Liquid Calcium Plus
Dosage: 10 ml of Liquid Calcium plus in 20 liters of water increases the calcium value by 30 mg/l. Do not add more than 25-30 mg/l of calcium per day.
Liquid KH Plus
Dosage: 10 ml of Liquid KH plus in 35 liters of water increases the carbonate value by 1 dKH. If the KH needs to be increased by more than one degree, dilute the dosage over several days, increasing it by no more than 1 dKH/day.
