The BASIX Weigh Sling (along with the Basix Cradle) is perfect for youngsters, new anglers, those on a budget, occasional anglers, and anyone who simply doesn't want to spend a lot of money, to ensure they can always safely weigh their fish.
NOTE: The Basix Weigh Sling MUST NOT be used as a retainersling.
It is a traditional weigh sling, but with some additional features, designed to allow you to safely transfer fish from the water to the unhooking mat and back again, and to weigh them – it isn't for retention and cannot safely be used for that purpose. This sling is constructed from tough, fish-friendly material and is plenty long and deep enough to weigh any carp you are likely to catch in the UK and in many other places. It features strong, lightweight, two-piece powder-coated metal bars at the top, to give it rigidity and to help make the weighing process safer for the fish. These bars easily fold in half when not in use, as they are elasticated, and the sling can then be stored in the carry bag that it comes with (the folded length allows it to fit inside the Basix Cradle or inside an outer pocket of a Compac rod holdall). A strong webbing strap is attached to the bars on either side and provides good balance once attached to your scales hook, allowing you to safely weigh your fish. It features plenty of large drainage holes in the bottom, so once your fish is transferred into it at the bankside, in your rolled-up landing net, the water quickly drains out as you take the fish up to your unhooking mat. A good quality free-running zip at each end of the sling ensures that the fish can’t slide out whilst being carried and weighed. The sling has been designed to float, so as to allow for easy transfer into the water with your fish and rolled-up landing net – this ensures that you don’t need to lift your net, thereby reducing the risks of splitting or damaging fins and tails. On the box of the Basix Weigh Sling there is a step-by-step guide to best weighing practice.
