COG System

A lead system with the self-hooking qualities of an inline and the casting characteristics of a lead clip, encompassing all their safety benefits: it doesn't exist, right? Well, such a product has just arrived at Korda Head Quarters. After maturing in development, the COG system is finally here in physical form.

COG, an acronym for center of gravity, refers to the unique way the rig is connected to the heaviest part of the lead, providing an immediate and unparalleled self-hooking action. Simply put, this system was designed to convert more bites into landed fish.

Now... why did it take so long? Well, in short, we tested the product, optimizing it, changing it, and then changing it again over the course of a few years. The refinement process takes an awfully long time, and for the final result to work perfectly, every step has been rigorously tested. Precisely through early tests, during a DVD recording session at Gigantica, and intense, unwavering scrutiny in front of underwater cameras, the COG proved to be truly beneficial.

When should you use the COG? Well, it's best used on lakebeds of gravel, sand, or solid silt rather than weedy areas, where the Heli-Safe system is better for maximum safety. It can be cast optimally like a normal lead clip system, although when fishing at long range, it loses its effectiveness if paired with any PVA bags, due to the impact in the water and the consequent dislodging of the half swivel from the lead. For marginal fishing or laying from a boat, the COG is simply unparalleled.

Initially, there are only two available shapes with which you will be able to cover most fishing situations. The flat pear version is best used for marginal fishing or when lowering the rig from a boat, while the distance version should be chosen if you need to target carp with long-distance casts. One point worth emphasizing is that the COG boom sections are numbered (on the swivel) because it is essential that they are used with the correct lead. If you use the wrong boom with the wrong lead, the COG simply won't work as intended.

We have received reports of great results from everyone who has been able to use them as champions so far, and we are excited to see how much impact the COG has had on your fishing. We are not claiming that the COG is the answer to all your fishing problems, but it certainly contains all the advanced technology of a bolt-rig while maintaining the inherent safety of a lead clip. One thing is certain: it is set to catch a lot of fish this year…
