To be clear, we have always believed that our current textured coating is the best on the market. However, so that you don't say we don't listen to what you're telling us, our new textured coating was developed due to the high demand for our famous leads with the textured coating.However, it wasn't easy; in fact, we needed a bit more time to perfect it. Our lead production manager, Sean "Woody" Stockdale, had this to say about the leads: "This isn't a new concept; in fact, it's still far from it. However, we couldn't ignore the demand. We carefully examined coating granule combinations to produce the finest, dull camouflage coating."

It wasn't right to announce the release of the new range without giving the master his say. Dan told us: "Since I started, I have always been careful about the camouflage aspect of my rig. This has permeated every aspect of the Korda product range. This addition to our lead range meets an almost constant demand for textured leads in colours that actually match what you are fishing on. I emphasize this point because 90 percent of existing textured leads don't match what they lie on, which actually makes them stand out more. The range has been kept concise to satisfy most anglers, and we will consider expanding it as demand dictates. I personally would use both smooth and textured leads because our underwater footage shows that both have excellent camouflage properties."

So, what are the advantages of a textured lead?

Well, the coating is matte and simply won't reflect light in the same way that traditionally coated lead does. The rough finish will pick up sediment from the lakebed, which will add to the overall subtle effect. In fact, these leads get better and better with use! The characteristics that allow the leads to pick up sediment will also allow them to absorb flavours, spills, or dips. If you leave a couple of leads soaking in Goo, you will certainly add an extra dimension of attraction to them.
