KORDA SQUARE PEAR INLINE
New lead for inline rigs.

SQUARE PEAR: WHERE TO USE THE SQUARE PEAR LEAD.
These leads were designed exclusively from what I saw happening in part 4 of the Underwater video. Without a doubt, when fishing on hard bottoms, inline leads hook carp quicker than swivel leads. The reason for this is that the fish always lifts the lead from the heavier end, where the hooklink is attached. In the case of Korda inlines, the swivel is actually semi-fixed inside the lead, amplifying the instantaneous 'bolt' effect. What I set out to do, after seeing fish get hooked in part four of Underwater, was to design the most condensed lead shape possible. In this way, a carp would have to travel the minimum distance before feeling the full weight of the lead. Now, the most condensed shape of all is the 'ball', but such a shape could roll before the fish feels its full weight, and it's also not tapered towards the back enough to prevent the hooklink from tangling.
So I chose to make four flat sides on the ball and taper the back slightly to prevent tangles. An appropriate name that summarised the lead was: THE SQUARE PEAR. As an inline, there's no lead that a fish can feel more instantaneously. Even in the swivel version, the fish will still feel a lot of the weight sooner because it's very short and one end is almost the same as the other. Only the movement of the swivel will make a difference. So, in short, you have the most compact inline and swivel lead available on the market, with flat sides that are very useful in fishing situations. We know this because it's the second generation of square pear leads; the first was too square and in some cases didn't roll and sit on its flat side, instead tending to 'sit' with the swivel pointing upwards, vertically to the bottom, which was absolutely not ideal.
This lead will achieve similar distances to a normal pear lead, but will have better hooking potential, so I recommend using it wherever you can. The only time it will need to be replaced is when greater distances need to be reached, opting for a Skyliner (for inline mounting), or a Tournament or Swivel Distance (for swivel mounting). To maximise distance, use a swivel lead, it will always go further than an inline.
