KORDA SQUARE PEAR SWIVEL
New lead with swivel.

SQUARE PEAR: WHERE TO USE THE SQUARE PEAR LEAD.
These leads were designed exclusively from what I saw happening in part 4 of the Underwater video. Without a doubt, when fishing on hard bottoms, inline leads hook carp more quickly than swivel leads. The reason for this is that the fish always lifts the lead from the heavier end, where the rig is attached. In the case of Korda inlines, the swivel is semi-fixed inside the lead, amplifying the instant 'bolt' effect. What I set out to do, after seeing the fish hook themselves in part four of Underwater, was to design the most condensed lead shape possible. This way, a carp would have to travel the minimum distance before feeling the full weight of the lead. Now, the most condensed shape of all is the 'ball', but such a shape could roll before the fish fully feels its weight, and it's not tapered towards the back enough to prevent rig tangles. So, I chose to make four flat sides on the ball and slightly taper the back to prevent tangles. An appropriate name that summarized the lead was: THE SQUARE PEAR. As an inline, there is no lead that the fish can feel more instantaneously. Even in the swivel version, the fish will still feel much of the weight sooner because it is very short and one end is almost equal to the other. Only the movement of the swivel will make a difference. So, in short, you have the most compact inline and swivel leads available on the market, with flat sides that are very useful in fishing situations. We know this because it is the second generation of square pear leads; the first was too square and in some cases did not roll or sit flat, instead tending to 'sit' with the swivel pointing upwards, vertically to the bottom, which was absolutely not ideal. This lead will achieve similar distances to a normal pear lead, but will have better hooking potential, so I recommend using it wherever you can. The only time it will need to be replaced is when greater distances need to be reached, opting for a Skyliner (for inline mounting), or a Tournament or Swivel Distance (for swivel mounting). To maximize distance, use a swivel lead; it will always go further than an inline.
