Whimar OsmoLine Deio, system for the production of osmotic water for use in marine and freshwater aquariums that require pure and deionized water.

Features:

Reverse osmosis is a mechanical process in which mineral salts are forced to move from the more concentrated solution to the less concentrated one; this process is achieved by subjecting tap water to a pressure greater than the osmotic pressure.

Reverse osmosis, that is, is carried out through a membrane that retains mineral salts on one side, preventing their passage and allowing pure water to be isolated on the other side. This phenomenon requires mechanical work to cancel out the effect of osmotic pressure.

This is the most reliable filtration process available, as it is not simply a matter of placing a physical barrier to the passage of molecules (i.e., it is not a kind of trivial "filter net"), but rather a complex process that also takes into account the chemical-physical affinities between the molecules present in the water and the membrane: the membrane, in fact, allows the passage of all those molecules chemically similar to water, while retaining everything that does not have the same compatibility (for example, the mineral salts dissolved in it).

Thanks to this process, it is possible to obtain practically pure water completely free of mineral salts (conductivity and TDS are therefore zero), which is ideal for use in an aquarium, whether freshwater or marine.

The pure water obtained, in fact, can be used to compensate for physiological evaporation without affecting the hardness (total and/or carbonate) or the conductivity of the water in the aquarium.

Appropriately supplemented (or salted in the case of marine aquariums) it can then be used for the usual water changes.

Whimar In-Line Deio systems consist of four stages:

  • transparent 5 micron polypropylene sediment cartridge for filtering rust, sand, suspended particles; the cartridge has an average life of approximately 1500 gallons, which should be replaced every 4-6 months to ensure optimal conditions of the osmotic membrane and consistent performance); the transparent casing allows real-time monitoring of the cartridge's wear status, optimizing the frequency of replacements
  • activated carbon cartridge whose use eliminates chlorine (which could damage the membrane) and harmful substances that may be present in the water (pesticides, antigritogqamici, etc.); this cartridge also has an average life of approximately 1500 gallons, which should be replaced every 4-6 months to ensure optimal conditions of the osmotic membrane and consistent performance);
  • post-filter composed of a transparent cartridge inside which an anti-nitrate, phosphate, and silicate deionizing resin acts; the resin changes from green to blue as its deionizing effect is exhausted.
    The transparent cartridge allows constant monitoring of the resin's exhaustion status.

The system is equipped with an built-in FlushValve for membrane flushing; this extends the average life of the membrane.

By rotating the valve, the waste water is forced back into the membrane vessel and out of what would otherwise be the osmotic water outlet; in this way, the membrane undergoes the flushing process which improves performance.

All systems are equipped with quick-fit connectors for standard 1/4" hoses with safety clips to prevent pressure from dislodging the hoses from the fitting.
