The TLD and TLD II offer value for money that is difficult for any competitor to match. Within the range there are models suitable for saltwater trolling, bottom fishing or jigging, with the smaller single-speed versions being very popular with freshwater anglers targeting larger predators.
Shimano TLD reels immediately stand out as lightweight and versatile models with an incredibly affordable price. While they may not have the technologies of their more expensive siblings, their effective simplicity, in both single-speed and 2-speed models, is enormously attractive to anglers of all skill levels. If you're looking to own your first reel, or are an experienced angler looking for a spare reel, the TLD still remains one of the most compelling choices based on value and quality, as thousands of anglers worldwide will attest.
The TLD range is built on a reliable composite graphite frame, which is lightweight and corrosion-resistant to complement the stainless steel gears. Internally there are four high-quality anti-rust bearings (A-RB), plus one roller bearing, to support the durable aluminium spool smoothly in all conditions. The smaller single-speed TLDs can be used for a wide variety of techniques using braid or mono, in both saltwater and freshwater, while the larger TLD II (2-speed) models are more suited to trolling for larger, more powerful fish.
