KAMAKURA - OUT NOW!

“I am entering my fourteenth year at Korda. It is impossible to say I haven’t seen some amazing products during that time. But this is without doubt the most exciting” - Ali Hamidi

“As a fisher, product developer and Korda’s managing director, I can’t help but tell you how proud I am of this product. It will bring a real benefit to all anglers who use them.” - Damian Clark

“I honestly believe this is not just a step forward in carp fishing hooks, but a step forward in hook technology in general.” - Tom Dove

A growing number of carp anglers have discovered the benefits of sharpening hooks, creating a truly excellent point. Both underwater footage and observations at various locations around the world have shown that an ultra-sharp hook gives you a greater chance of hooking big, wary fish.

Many anglers have been sharpening their own hooks for several years. They used to do this because the hooks weren’t sharp enough, but this has changed recently. The chemically sharpened hooks that are produced nowadays are already a considerable improvement. But even these could be improved with manual sharpening, resulting in a finer point. This trick, which must be learned, offers a great advantage over other anglers and certainly helps to turn more bites into landed fish. Anglers like Darrell Peck, Danny Fairbrass and Elliot Gray have ultra-sharp hooks among their weapons and the results speak for themselves.

Until recently, the only way to create super sharp hook points was by hand. This is a trick that takes a long time to learn and to execute correctly. Korda’s product development department thought it was something that needed to be looked into. Getting the sharpest hooks became a major project. Although we worked to achieve a sharpened hook post-production, it took three years to get everything right and create the Kamakura.

Kamakura hooks are post-production sharpened with zero tolerance. We produce hooks that you can’t even make by hand. When you open the pack, you will also notice two different things. The first is the quality of the product. Every single hook sold has the same ridiculously sharp point and is ready to use. Quality is key, we are proud to have ensured that every hook is identical to the others.

The second is a waxy coating on the sharpened hook point. Thanks to this unique way of covering them, we ensure they remain in the best possible condition until you want to use them. Just before casting, you just need to remove it and you’ll be fishing with the sharpest hook you can imagine.

The Kamakura range will exist alongside the original range of the same hooks. In mid-September 2018, we will start by releasing the Krank and Widegape patterns in the sharpened version. They will be available in sizes 4, 6 and 8, both barbed and barbless. Choddy and Kurv Shank hooks will follow in 2019.
